An embarrassing tell-all book that paints ex-foreign affairs minister Maxime Bernier as vain, irresponsible and completely unprofessional isn't likely to affect his bid for a another term as an MP.
Couillard herself refused to weigh in with advice for the electorate yesterday and noted the timing of the book's release was made well before the election was ever called.
"The only thing I can do is to relate what I have lived in the company of Maxime ... I have faith in the intelligence of people to make their own opinion of what I've written in the book."
According to "My Story," which was leaked yesterday, Bernier had visions of replacing Stephen Harper as Conservative leader and also asked that confidential government documents be tossed in the garbage.
Bernier responded to Couillard's book by dismissing her comments as "soap-opera politics and completely ridiculous."
Political scientist Antonia Maioni says the release of the book was obviously timed to gain publicity during the election campaign.
